IPL Intense Pulsed Light

Description

Full spectrum light and near infrared radiation are filtered to allow a specified range of wavelengths (530 – 1900 nm). This filtered light is delivered from Niveve’s unique hand piece on and into the skin, where it targets dark material such as the pigment in hair. This causes thermal damage to the hair follicles while sparing surrounding tissues.

Advantages

Long-lasting hair removal or permanent hair reduction Considered safe if performed properly. Useful for all body areas except eyes. May be used by cosmeticians as well!

Disadvantages

No disadvantages to Laser: not effective on unpigmented (white) hair. Must be used very cautiously on dark skin tones or on clients who tan themselves.

The primary differences between IPL impulselight lamps and lasers:

Impulselight lamps do not use one wavelength of light the way lasers doe. IPL lamps emit nearly the full spectrum of visible light and a little into the band of near infrared radiation (530 to about 1900 nm). Niveve selects a special and unique cutoff filter to block out lower wavelengths and extreme peak heights.
